Sports Day

Today was a great day. Megan and I began it by reading the comments on her blog. She loves hearing from you.
We headed to the Valley for Field Day. One time a year, Mercy Care Centre rents a sports field about a mile from the school. The children gather for races and relays. It is a great day and the children really look forward to it. The students are divided into groups with colors. We were put with the yellow group…or Lions. We cheered and cheered for our team. The yellow team came in third out of 4 teams. The children are really talented. Megan was interested but did not choose to participate in any of the games. Instead she made lots of new friends. All day small groups of children would be drawn to her. She would play with them and had a great time.
The races went on all morning and into the afternoon. Many of the children had not eaten since lunch the day before and were still able to run and compete successfully. They truly amazed us. It was after 3 before the children were feed lunch. The parents who had come to watch the races, were invited back to the school for lunch as well.
This was a real treat for the students. The winning team was given a bottle of soda. All the winners were given medals brought the Australians and the winning team received a trophy. Megan managed to find a playground near the field. She and enjoyed some time together playing and talking.
Tomorrow we leave on Safari and hope to see lots of animals. We will return on Monday and will update the blog with all our activities. We will be going to Masai Mara and it is out in the Serengeti. They do not have Internet services.
Megan said her day was great and she made some new friends.
Our evening ended with a quiet evening of packing and getting ready to leave tomorrow.
Check back on Monday to see what animals we saw on safari.

Megan,

I enjoy your entries and the photos - it makes me feel like I am a part of your day! And you are having such great days, making new friends among the students and the "Outsides." I smile also to read about your new bus buddy - Joy. I guess you will be spending a lot of time with her traveling to the safari. "Little missionary," I am also impressed to read how much you are helping out with each day's activities.

Lions are one of my favorite animals (I was born in August, so I'm a Leo), so I also was rooting for the yellow team on Sports Day.
I hope that you have a wonderful safari and see many beautiful animals.

Have a great weekend!
Pastor Steve

Megan,
Field Day seemed like it was a blast and I am certain that the children really enjoyed it. I am so glad that you are getting so involved with everything and making new friends. I thank you and your Mom for including us on this trip because when we read about it here it is like we are there with you. I also enjoy reading other people's comments and it seems that you have lots of people supporting and encouraging you. I was reading Pastor Steve's comment about lions being his favorite animal and being a Leo and I had to laugh because lions are my favorite animal too and I am a Leo (my birthday is late July).
I am so excited about your trip to the safari and all the animals you will see. I can't believe that I will have to wait until Monday to read about it all. The suspense will probably drive me crazy. I hope that you see some lions and lots of other great animals. I will check back on Monday to find out about your adventures on the safari.

Hi Megan! I enjoyed reading about your trip. I am glad you are having fun. I like looking at your pictures. We went to fireworks last night. It was fun. I got my haircut. It is really short! When you get back would you like to come over and go to the pool and maybe spend the night?

See ya soon.

Megan,

The first note I sent to you, I sent to the wrong place. I'm glad I found out better about how to send you notes.

It makes me happy to see your happy face along with smiles from some of your new friends. I know that they are glad to have you for a friend.

I've liked looking at all the pictures. Today I saw the ones from sports day and also saw the giraffe picture. I'm looking forward to the ones from the safari. What a cool experience!

I also think it's cool that you raised money to give people the chance to go to the animal orphanage.

Hey precious!
You are on safari right now and I am wishing I could see your face when you "lay eyes" on all of the animals! I hope you walked from your tent with others since the monkeys like to steal your belongings! Your grandmother told me this, AFTER I had gone to meals three times ALONE! No, the monkeys didn't try to take my camera! Wasn't the fire pit cozy and neat at Fig Tree at night? I am so proud of all you are doing with and for the children at MCC sweetheart. Know that I love you, your mom, and those crazy grandparents of yours!!!!! Be safe. oxoxoxo PP

MegBert,
We are having a great time catching up with your blog. We didn't have much time to keep up with you last week as we were on vacation at the beach. It sounds like you are having a great time and are being very helpful with all the children. Carlie really loved the pictures of the giraffe and we can't wait to hear about and see pictures of the safari. Jack says hello and looks forward to talking with you about your trip. Take care, we miss you and we can't wait to hear from you soon!!!
Oh, and tell your Mom we miss her too!!!

Love,
